Overview

The purpose of game theory is to study the strategic relations between supposedly rational players and explores the consequences of a player’s action on the actions of the other players. Game theory’s most important field of application is economic theory. The economic system is considered a game between producers and consumers who go through the inter mediation of the market, and game theory is needed to understand and predict situations and outcomes outside the realm of perfectly competitive markets.

There are many different companies and organizations that commercially consult and sell game theory. Most of these companies will come into another company that is struggling with a certain issue and provide strategies and ideas on how they can improve. Most of these companies that are implementing these game theory strategies are smaller companies, but some of them are quite large as well.

An example of a game-theory based company that is larger than most is the Strategic Gaming Group. They use the practical application of game theory for instances where partners and competitors are important drivers. There are other companies that use game theory in an economical approach to help with expertise in economics and finance like Charles River Associates. The most well-known company that uses game theory is IBM. They are a leading player in the game theory market and can attack problems from an array of different spectrums with the amount of resources they are alluded. These software’s are crucial in the deliverance of a game theory based approach. An example of a software tool used is called Gambit. Gambit is a collection of tools for doing computation in game theory. With Gambit, you can build, analyze, and explore game models.
